The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
                                          ( RCIA)

The RCIA is a process of faith formation for anyone who wishes to learn more about the Catholic religion, for those who have been baptized Catholic, but who have had no further faith formation, and for those who are of another denomination, who are considering coming into full communion with the Catholic Church. The RCIA process will begin with an orientation on Tuesday, September 8th at 7:00 P.M. in the Parish Hall.  For more information, contact Eileen Dolan, 358-2461

                                      THE RCIA TEAM
To be successful the RCIA process is dependent on a team of committed individuals who desire to share the Gospel message, their love of God, as well as their faithfulness to the Catholic faith.

SPONSORS: Sponsors play a critical part in the initiation of adults into the Catholic faith.  Journeying with a candidate or catechumen is a faith-filled, humbling expeirence.  No expertise is necessary, just fellowship, faith sharing and support while journeying with the candidate as he/she continues to walk in God's presence.

HOSPITALITY:  Hospitality is the heart of the RCIA process.  Welcoming those who are seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith, is a response to God's call to share God's presence in the community.  Those who serve on this committee give witness to the candidates/catechumen that the people of St. Thomas welcome and support them.  Responsibilities include setting up, serving and cleaning up refreshments, and mingling wiht the candidates before each session and during refreshment time.  Ideally, there should be 8 hospitality ministers (2 per week) on the team.  In that way, each individual would need be available only one Tuesday a month.

If you choose to respons to God's call to either of these important ministries, or, if you would like more informantion. please contact Eileen in the RE office, 358-2461, ext. 16.
